Ratings for Dr. Jonathon Hummel
A series of orthopedic issues led me to dr Hummel, for which I shall always be grateful. When I had foot problems beyond his scope he made sure I saw someone who could save me amputation and took great interest in the mostly positive outcome. Now I see him in the clinic for cortisone shots and he is invariably upbeat, funny and positive. I recommend him without reservation.
Dr. Hummel did a complete knee replacement for me in Feb. 2015. I also have a prosthetic device on the opposite leg and he spent a great deal of time to ensure that I would be able to handle the extra pressure during the recuperation period on the prosthetic device. He is a fantastic doctor with a pleasant bedside manner and a very competent staff that made the entire procedure and recovery period short and painless. Five stars all around.
Dr. Hummel is THE MOST AMAZING surgeon and human being I could ever have had the pleasure (if you can call a bilateral TKR a pleasure) of meeting. He has the most incredible bedside manner and has a way of putting even the most tense and stressed out patient at ease. He knows when to crack a joke or when to be serious, and frankly, with that South African accent, I would listen to anything he said anyway! You couldn't find a better orthopedic surgeon than Dr, Hummel....wish I could give 10 stars across the board.
Dr. Hummel assessed my back for my insurance company. Nice enough - was pleasant however his report was full of inaccuracies including saying I can shovel - with my slipped disk, that I was recently diagnosed with something I definately do not have. I feel that he judged me by my size and that my residual pain and limitations must be due to that as opposed to the disk issue I sustained in an accident. Considering his report could have influenced the approval of my request further treatment, I have had to appeal this. Had he been truly concerned about my health and not the continued business of the insurance company his report may have better reflected the truth I live with every day, which is chronic pain.
I had an extensive consult prior to having my hip replaced. I was off 70% of my meds/pain killers in 3 days. I began walking each day, after 5 days, using a walker, I was completing 100 m 10 times daily within the hallways of the hospital. With physio support, I was soon able to gain full pain free movement - it had been a 10 long years! Need I say more! Well done Dr. Hummel.
I fell and broke my tibial plateau on January 6th. Dr. Hummel operated on Jan. 9th. I have had a total of 10 surgeries by different surgeons over my lifetime for different things. Up until that injury and having the good fortune of having Dr. Hummel being the surgeon on duty I have never been under the care of a surgeon who is so personable, caring and not only willing but seemingly to enjoy really caring for his patients. Not only that, I noticed whenever he was on duty ,the staff, patients and other doctors seemed to always be laughing. Nice to meet a surgeon who is not only amazing in his skill, but who honestly appears to love his job. God bless you Dr. Hummel.
