Ratings for Dr. Chantelle Ung
Very bad office administration. Unfriendly staff. Office practices make no sense for patience-centric experience. Dr Ung pushes many patients through the course of her day. You feel like an obsitcle rather than a patient. she had no time to get to know you or care about you. On to the next... I have to ask what is her motivation for this kind of practice??
Gotta say... the reception is awful. I've been on hold for 10 minutes just to book an appointment. Hung up to call back. They don't give you any time to speak. They just say "doctors office please hold" then it's "hold limbo" for ages. Terrible
Dr Chantelle Ung is a very compassionate doctor, so soft-spoken and really takes the time to listen to what your problem is; in my teenage years I had acne issues that were very hard to resolve, not only did she resolve them but since I could not afford to buy the creams, she gave me two boxes of sample sized creams. I'll never forget it. Thanks Dr. Ung.
Dr. Ung is a fabulous doctor. I am a nurse at a medical clinic nearby. Over the years, we have referred hundreds, if not thousands, of patients to Dr. Ung. I can honestly say that all of our patients LOVE her. She is the most requested specialist. They would rather wait a little longer to see her than take an earlier appointment elsewhere. I have personally seen Dr. Ung four times when my kids were recently referred by their pediatrician for molluscum and eczema. Since their pediatrician made the appointment, Dr. Ung did not know where I worked and we were treated the same as any other patient. Dr. Ung was kind, caring and very helpful. Her treatments worked very well and she was very informative, taking the time to explain everything in detail, more so than our pediatrician. My daughter, who is afraid of doctors, loved Dr. Ung and insisted on giving her a hug every time. We waited about 15 min at each visit, which is awesome considering we wait 2 hrs at the pediatrician's office. I called to change my appointments twice, and both time, I received a call back within a few hours. The office is very busy, probably the most busy in North York, but it is extremely well run. They give you a list of office policies when you register and it is posted in the rooms, so there is no excuse to complain about cancellation and refill charges. They only charge $15 for missed appointments, whereas most specialist charge $50, so again, no reason to complain. Plus they give you a courtesy reminder call a few days before, which no other clinic does. So overall, they bend over backwards to be accommodating to their patients. All the doctors in our clinic send their friends and family, and even themselves to Dr. Ung. That's the best endorsement if other doctors trust their loved ones to Dr. Ung. I personally think that Dr. Ung is one of the best doctors around. PS. There are five derms in their clinic and I agree with the other reviewer that they are probably mistaking Dr. Ung for the other Asian derm, the one whose on that makeover show. Only Dr. Ung's name is on the door, so easy mistake.
I have nothing negative to say about Dr. C. Ung - she seemed pleasant and knowledgeable. I understand she's a specialist who is likely overbooked so may be running late with many patients to see in a day. Don't blame the doctor, blame the system. My only complaint is the office staff and phone...they never pick up, it's always on voice mail, and the greetings are not updated (sometimes they're over a week old especially when there's an announcement about a holiday closing.) You are told to leave only ONE MESSAGE...and then after a week they still don't call you back. It took me 2 months to finally get through to a real person to make an appointment. I know they are a busy office, but I don't understand why the receptionist cannot return calls in a timely manner.
